Options after SPM/STPM
With more than a decade of schooling after the SPM and STPM examinations, this marks the end of one chapter in your life and the beginning of another. School leavers have to decide what to do next. Here are some pointers to help you pick the right course and the scholarship/financial assistance available to ease your parents’ financial burden.
1. Programmes
School leavers have to make a difficult decision, as you need to choose a particular course of study depending on your interest. In secondary school system, students either pursue the science or arts stream but there is a wide range of courses offered by higher education providers.
1.1 Health Sciences
Have you always wanted to become a health care professional? The first step towards realising your ambition is by getting yourself enrolled in an accredited qualification. SEGi University offers five high-quality Health Sciences degree programmes, which are Optometry, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dental Surgery and Biomedical Science. Our Optometry, Medicine, Pharmacy and Dental Surgery are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
The Faculty of Optometry and Vision Sciences has established SEGi EyeCare to provide vision care within a clinical setting. Students will be able to experience learning in a real-world setting here. Dental students are also given the opportunity to practice their skills at SEGi Oral Health Centre that was established to provide comprehensive oral health care services. All treatment and services are done according to standard safety procedures.
1.2 Accounting & Business

Seize the opportunity to experience a variety of learning methods including lectures, workshops, seminars and practical sessions when you enrol in Accounting, Business, Business Management, Economics, Finance, Human Resource, International Business and Marketing programmes at the Faculty of Business & Accountancy. The learning modules are developed according to the ever-changing business world to prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow.
1.3 Communication and Creative Design
If creative ideas, innovation, design and meaningful human connection is what you are after, then the Communication and Creative Design courses will nurture your creative potential. Students have the opportunity to work on industry-standard software when they enrol in Communication, Corporate Communication, Mass Communication, English & Public Relations, Creative Design, Creative Multimedia, Computer Graphics, Interior Architecture, Multimedia Design and Graphic Design.
1.4 Early Childhood Care & Education
Teaching is amongst the noblest professions. As the government is pushing for pre-school teachers to have at least a diploma in Early Childhood Education, school leavers who would like to develop a career in this sector are encouraged to obtain a qualified certification from a recognised institute. The Faculty of Early Childhood Care & Education is a trusted provider of ECCE programme having produced thousands of qualified educators since 1998. Apart from ECCE, SEGi also offers other specialisation fields linked to the teaching profession which include Teaching English as a Second Language, Special Needs Education and Guidance & Counselling.
1.5 Engineering & The Built Environment
Discover the engineer in you by learning from world-class academicians in a world-class environment. The Faculty of Engineering and The Built Environment offers an impressive range of engineering courses in various disciplines including Architecture, Chemical, Civil, Electronic & Electrical, Mechanical and Quantity Surveying. Learning modules are delivered using applied methodologies and state-of-the-art facilities.
1.6 Hospitality & Tourism
Get enrolled in a hospitality and tourism course at SEGi Kota Damansara for a fruitful career in the hospitality sector. The campus has top-notch learning facilities with five kitchens, a mock restaurant with a bar and mock housekeeping room to provide the best learning experience. Courses available are International Tourism, Hospitality Management, Hotel Management and Culinary Arts.
1.7 Technology & Innovation
There’s never been a more exciting time to dip your toe in the technology industry. You don’t have to be a geek to break into technology. If you think the time is now to nurture your tech talent (so you can be a part of it in the future), SEGi Kota Damansara offers industry-relevant diploma and degree programmes in Information Technology. The Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) allows students to choose one of the three specialisations, which are, Business Systems Design, Software Engineering and Computer Networks.
1.8 American Degree Program
Do you want to get a head start on a tertiary education after SPM or its equivalent qualification? The American Degree Program (ADP) gives you such advantage as SPM school leavers can gain direct entry into a university degree that allows you to explore a plethora of subjects beyond your chosen major. Instead of focusing on rote learning, students will be able to experience American-style learning that emphasizes learning beyond the classroom. SEGi Kota Damansara offers 4+0 ADP in Business Administration and Psychology. Students can obtain an American degree at a local cost.
1.9 Foundation (Pre-University)
Pre-university studies are designed for SPM school leavers to experience a smooth transition of secondary studies to a university degree. It covers comprehensive theoretical classes and coursework over a course of three semesters, which is equivalent to one-year. With strong global connections with first-class universities worldwide, pre-university graduates can pursue a Bachelor’s Degree globally. SEGi Kota Damansara offers Foundation Studies in Science, Arts and Commerce.
2. Financial Assistance
SEGi University provides a range of financial support and assistance to help the brightest young minds to realise their dreams of obtaining a world-class degree. 2.1 High Achiever’s Scholarships (HAS)

The scholarship provides up to 100% tuition fee waiver for applicants with 10As in SPM or its equivalent qualification.
2.2 Early Bird Rebates

2.3 Installment Payment Plan
SPM or STPM school leavers can pay a minimum amount to begin your studies in the upcoming intake. This payment option will ease your parents’ financial burden.
2.4 PTPTN
