There’s something about the UK that seems to draw Malaysians in like large fish to chum. Perhaps it’s due to the fact that the UK is home to Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and other famous football clubs. Maybe it’s due to the lifestyle that Malaysian catch a glimpse of every now and then on TV- the fish and chips with an exquisite side of tartar sauce, the cool trench coats worn by the likes of Sherlock, and sometimes, it’s just the aura of coolness that comes with that accent. Think we’re exaggerating? The numbers speak for themselves: in 2013/24, the number of Malaysians that were sent to the UK for tertiary education was 16,635, increasing to 17,060 the following year (2014/15), and rising still to 17,405 in 2015/16. In fact, Malaysia were second on the table that ranked the top ten non-Eu countries sending students to the UK. The only country that beat us? China, who have a population that’s 44x more than Malaysia’s. With a UK degree clearly being an enticing proposition to students locally, one of the emerging options that’s proving to be popular, due to the affordability, plethora of options offered and unparalleled variety of partner universities, is taking up a UK degree at BAC. Today, we’ll explore why you too should consider studying for a UK degree at BAC.
Study a UK Degree Programme
Want to know a secret? Obtaining a UK degree doesn’t necessarily mean you have to go to the UK. For many students, the exorbitant living costs in the UK throws a spanner in the works as many simply can’t afford it. On the other the other hand, these students still desire to experience the culture, the food, the air that you only get in the UK, even if it’s for a short span of time. If only there was a programme that was able to solve both these conundrums. What if we told you there is? Brickfields Asia College is famous for many things, one of them being their courses. This is because many BAC courses are twinning programmes. A twinning programme is a course that involves a student studying for a fixed duration at one university, and then proceeding to transfer to the partner university, usually overseas, for the remainder of the course. A 1+2 programme for example with the University of Essex would see a student study 1 year at the BAC campus, then continue at the University of Essex for the remaining two. A 3+1 programme would enable a student to save money by eliminating the high cost of living in the UK for 3 whole years, and yet, still allow a student to spend a single year there so the experience is a fulfilling one. Oh, and both these variations of a twinning programme will see the students graduate with a degree from the partner UK university.
BAC courses and their partnerships with prestigious UK universities aren’t limited to just one field as well. Unlike many university out there, BAC offer UK degree is a variety of courses. These include:
Some of you may still be sighing as you scroll, cursing the cost of spending even a single year in the UK. “Why does it have to be so expensive?”, you squawk futilely. Maybe, it doesn’t have to be that expensive. Maybe, there is another way. This is due to a set of BAC courses specially curated to cater to a distinct crowd, called 3+0 programmes. A 3+0 programme is exactly what you think it is, studying for the entire duration in Malaysia, never having to go abroad, and still being conferred a UK degree upon graduation. This means you’ll only have to bear the cost of living in Malaysia, as well as the reasonable BAC fees that are comparable to other private institutions in Malaysia. Some of the BAC courses offered under their 3+0 umbrella include:
Aberystwyth University
•BSc (Hons) Economics with Law
•BSc (Hons) Business & Management with Law
•BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance with Law
•BSc (Hons) Marketing with Law
University of London
•LLB (Hons), University of London International Programmes
Many private institutions these days have partner universities abroad, so many in fact, that it may seem odd if a student ever comes across one that doesn’t. These relationships were established to entice students, giving them the ability to go abroad for less and ensuring they are awarded a foreign degree upon graduation. BAC Malaysia haven’t done anything revolutionary in this respect. Instead, BAC have blown the competition away in terms of sheer scale. BAC’s list of partner universities could rival Taylor Swift’s list of exes, and both lists are filled with some of the most recognisable names in their respective industries. BAC partner universities include:
While the list may be extensive, these universities aren’t merely called partners to spruce up the BAC name, oh no. All these universities are attached to BAC courses, usually as part of their twinning programmes, allowing a student to transfer at some point during their course, and serves as clear proof of the quality of BAC courses.
If you still aren’t convinced and are compelled to listen to naysayers who still doubt private universities, well, BAC is no regular institution. Some of BAC’s awards and achievements include:
While everything stated above may seem impressive, it’s merely scratching the surface, with the sheer number of quality options available to a BAC student staggering. The BAC campus too is one that is well-know in these parts, with state-of-the-art facilities and student accommodation options that would make your friends turn a sickly hue of green, dripping with envy- no coincidence then that the BAC cafeteria is named BACteria. Obtaining a UK degree has never been easier, nor has it been more affordable, and BAC makes a giant shout to be your institution of choice in chasing down and fulfilling that dream.
