Infrastructure is a key driver of any economy and responsible for the overall development globally. Infrastructure sector means all the industry dealing with the construction of basic facilities such as roads, electricity, Housing and Infrastructure Service, railways, water supply, sewage, industrial centres etc. This industry offers a huge job market, especially for graduates.
So, if you fear of the possibility of being jobless after graduation and not sure which field is the best choice to further your study, why not consider taking a course related to the infrastructure industry!
Construction Project Manager
Construction Project Managers hold the blueprints on a building site or construction. They are often called General Contractors or Project Managers and they are responsible for overseeing construction project from the beginning to the end. The main responsibilities of a construction project manager are to monitor the project’s progress, prepare internal and external reports, as well as planning and estimating the budget among other things.
Here in Malaysia, a construction project manager typically makes RM7k a month! Starting salary begins at RM3k but with experience, it can reach up RM15k.
Civil Engineer
Most of the time, civil engineers design, plan, and/or manage construction projects. Their job ranges from small-scale projects, such as building or bridge repairs, to very large-scale, such as building large stadiums. Civil engineers may work in many sectors, such as structural, environmental, and transportation.
Civil Engineers in Malaysia make an average of RM85k per annum! They typically start off with a humble RM3k while the most experienced civil engineers can make up RM11k.
Electrician
Don’t ever underestimate the role of an electrician! Electricians work for a wide variety of companies, perform a multitude of tasks that generally require close attention to detail and good judgment, and have a journeyman electrician's license. These licenses typically require four years of apprentice work.
Electricians in Malaysia often makes an average annum of RM22k. Because it differs according to its services, the highest an electrician can make is a whopping RM7k!
Architects
The architecture is the literal foundation of infrastructures. They generally design buildings or other structures such as statues and water fountains for their employer. They work on design projects from start to finish, consulting with clients, creating and editing draft designs, and monitoring project progress throughout construction.
In Malaysia, architects make can make an average of RM6k a month. A fresh graduate architect will typically be paid around RM3k while an experienced architect makes RM8k!

YTL mainly focuses on construction contracting, cement manufacturing, property development & investment, hotel development and management, e-commerce initiatives and also internet-based education solutions and services. YTL is also an owner of Paka & Pasir Gudang Power Stations, two gas-fired joined cycle power plants.
Gamuda Berhad
Gamuda Berhad focuses primarily on engineering and construction, infrastructure concessions and property development. Among its famous projects are Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and property development such as TwentyFive.7, Gamuda Gardens, Kundang Estates, Bukit Bantayan Residences, Highpark Suites, Gamuda Biz Suites, The Robertson, Jade Hills, Horizon Hills, Madge Mansion, Gamuda Walk, Kota Kemuning, Bandar Botanic and Valencia.
