STPM :
A minimum of Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Pengajian Am and a Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in two (2) other subjects
UEC :
3 Grade Bs in relevant subjects which must include Grade B in one Mathematics subject, Grade B in one Science subject and Grade C in English
Degree :
A relevant first or second class Honours degree, or a degree qualification, or equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Government, acceptable to the University
Master's :
A Master's Degree in relevant field and shows evidence of adequate related research or work experiences to satisfaction of Senate
Important Note: Be psychologically prepared to face people who will share their problems with you for hours. It’s important not to let their tears, anger and frustration get to you or else you will need counselling as well!.
If you opt to study a Diploma in Counselling and continue your degree at the same institution, you will most likely get a one-year exemption. This means that you can enter degree year 2 after diploma
You may work with kids, helping them with their problems at school, or with couples who face marital issues. Either way, you’ll need to adapt in any given situation that you’re put in.
To facilitate an open environment so your clients open up to you, they would need to trust you and be comfortable with you first. People skills is crucial in this course, to ensure you become a successful counsellor.
