Academic Requirements

<p id="isPasted" style="text-align: justify;">Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM) was established in 1997 as Melaka-Manipal Medical College (MMMC). It was through the vision of Dr. Ramdas Pai, Chancellor of Manipal University, and the instrumental efforts of the late Datuk K Pathmanaban, former Malaysian Deputy Minister of Health. They recognised that the problem of a shortage of doctors in Malaysia at the time could be effectively addressed if more Malaysian students were given the opportunity to achieve their aspirations of becoming doctors and healthcare professionals.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br></p><p style="text-align: justify;">The national aspiration was for Malaysia to be a leading hub for education in the region and this was aligned to MMMC&rsquo;s charter of providing quality medical education at an affordable price. This led to the signing of an agreement in New Delhi in 1993, between Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and the College witnessed by both the Prime Ministers of Malaysia and India. The College was the first Indo-Malaysian collaboration in education and was among the pioneers of private medical education in the country.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br></p><p style="text-align: justify;">MMMC admitted its first batch of MBBS students in 1997 with the support of experienced medical educationists from MAHE who helped in the implementation of the medical programme. This consistency in the quality of education is one of the reasons behind the strategic tie-up that resulted in the formation of MMMC, and it is a relationship that has proven extremely successful due to MMMC&rsquo;s own vision of serving the nation by providing quality medical education and producing highly competent doctors. The cornerstone of any education provider is by and large its teaching faculty and it is no different with MMMC. The College&rsquo;s commitment to continuity and culture of building on its consistency is apparent in the long tenures of its teaching faculty.</p><p style="text-align: justify;"><br></p><p style="text-align: justify;">In January 2021, MMMC was upgraded to University College status. Thus, births Manipal University College Malaysia (MUCM); the result of a long-standing and fruitful relationship between MMMC and the Malaysian Government to address the nation&#39;s education needs by providing quality, affordable medical education while meeting all the requirements of the regulatory bodies. MUMC offers a wide range of programmes from Pre-University, Foundation In Science, Bachelor&#39;s Degree, MBBS as well as Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS) Programme.</p><p><br></p>

A Pre Degree Course or PUC is the first choice of all those candidates who are looking out to enter into a degree course after school education.  The PUC degrees are specially very useful for all those candidates who are opting for a 10 year school and move on to the degree courses after their 2 years of PUC completed from any junior college.</p><h3 class="common-heading">Opportunities for Career Growth after PUC</h3><p class="common-text">Those who successfully apply for the PUC after their 10 years of schooling are ready to apply for several streams of degree courses through the government organized common entrance test. The students can enroll themselves in a variety of programs through a Pre University Course such as –Bahelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Business Management, if they belong to Commerce stream; Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Social Sciences, if they belong to an Arts stream; Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Pharmacy; If they belong to Science stream, then Bachelor of Science and in case of Mathematics/ Science Stream, it will be Bachelor of Engineering or Bachelor of Agriculture or Medicine respectively.</p><h3 class="common-heading">What to choose?</h3><p class="common-text">Students can get a number of colleges in Malaysia offering a Pre University Degree Course or Pre Degree Courses. However, it becomes necessary for all the prospective students to make a right choice in their search for a suitable college. For instance, FTMS College offers Foundation Course or Pre University Course of one year duration in Business Information Technology. The foundation or Pre University Courses are offered by both government funded institutions as well as private colleges. The students who are planning to give at least one year to their Pre Degree Courses should take up the Foundation Courses. On the other hand, a bridging course will be just a semester for you to complete. Some of the international universities offer direct entry based Foundation Programs that can give a direct entry to the students under the second year of the undergraduate or post graduate programs that they wish to enroll themselves into. </p></div>
