COURSE OVERVIEW

The programme aims to give the students the knowledge and skills needed in a career in networking and computing industry or entry to a postgraduate course. The programme covers the main knowledge area of computer networks and ICT.

Course Objective:

The Bachelor of Computer Science in Networking and Multimedia Computing program has been designed in such a way as to provide the graduates with:

The knowledge to analyze, design, implement, configure, manage, and administer, and securely maintain a network infrastructure.

An understanding of mathematics, basic science behind computing and networking to enter the ICT profession or advanced studies.

The ability to identify problems and critically analyze them to provide creative solution in view of networking and computing opportunities and constraints.

Proficiency in communication, understanding of professional ethics, and the ability to demonstrate success and leadership, as well as the ability to engage in continuing professional development.

Academic Requirements

Passed the MEDIU Foundation program or any Matriculation program with a minimum cumulative grade value (CGPA) with minimum 2.0 and credit in the subject Mathematics at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level; or Passed Shahadah Thanawiyyah Ammah with at least three credits in three subjects including Mathematics; or
Pass SPM or equivalent with honors in Mathematics and Malaysian High School Certificate (STPM) or equivalent with minimum CGPA 2.0; or
Passed a Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering or equivalent to a minimum CGPA of 2.5 and a credit in Mathematics at the SPM level
Candidates with a CGPA of less 2.5 but exceeding 2.0 may be admitted subject to a strict internal assessment process; or
Passed Diploma Iain with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 and credit in mathematics at SPM level; or
Any equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of Malaysia.

Language Requirement

Where the medium of instruction of a course is English and if applicant’s first language is other than English, applicants are required to obtain a score of either:
60 TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or
6.0 band IELTS (International English Language Testing Service)
4.0 band MUET (Malaysian University English Test)
Applicants, who do not have either of the above qualifications, are required to pass MEDIU’s English Placement Test (MEPT) with a 6.0 points.
