COURSE OVERVIEW

The programme aims to give the students the knowledge and skills needed in a career in computing profession or entry to a postgraduate course. The programme covers the main knowledge area of computer science and computing systems.

Course Objective:

The Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons) program has been designed in such away as to provide the graduates with:

Fundamental knowledge of mathematics, basic science, computing science, networking and multimedia computing to enter the computing profession or advanced studies.

The ability to work in teams, analyze complex computing systems in view of modern developments in electronic, computing, and information technology, design solutions and implement these solutions using the appropriate tools and technologies.

Proficiency in communication, understanding of professional ethics, and the ability to demonstrate success and leadership, as well as the ability to engage in continuing professional development.

Academic Requirements

A pass in General Secondary School examination (compulsory: taken upon the completion of 12 years primary and secondary schools education); OR
Two principal passes in the STPM (Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia / Malaysia High School Certificate); OR
Two principal passes in the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE) ‘A’ Level Examination (UK Education System); OR
A pass in MEDIU’s Foundation programme with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; OR
A pass in any Diploma recognized by the Government of Malaysia and/or the Senate of the University; OR
Five (5) Passes in SPM/SPMV or in the General Certificate of Education ‘Ordinary Level’ (GCE) ‘O’ Level Examination (UK Education System) or their equivalent AND at least 3 years working experience;
Any other certificate or qualification that is recognized by the University’s Academic Board as equivalent to one of the above.

Language Requirement

Where the medium of instruction of a course is English and if applicant’s first language is other than English, applicants are required to obtain a score of either:
60 TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or
6.0 band IELTS (International English Language Testing Service)
4.0 band MUET (Malaysian University English Test)
Applicants, who do not have either of the above qualifications, are required to pass MEDIU’s English Placement Test (MEPT) with a 6.0 points.
