Biotechnology is the application of advances made in the biological sciences, especially involving the science of genetics and its application. Biotechnology has helped improve food quality, quantity and processing; its application also include producing chemicals through manipulating simple cells and proteins. Biotechnology also has important implications in health and medicine. Through genetic engineering, scientists have been able to create new medicines, including interferon for cancer patients, synthetic human growth hormone and synthetic insulin, among others.The programme aims to produce graduates with a high level of competency in the field of biotechnology to meet the market demand and national expectation.
Entry Requirements
STPM with minimum 2 principal passes in Biology and Chemistry Or A-level with minimum 2 passes in Biology and Chemistry or South Australian matriculation (SAM) with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) 70 and grade B in Biology and Chemistry Or Canadian Pre-University with an average of 70% in 6 relevant subjects including Biology and Chemistry Or Unified examination certificate (UEC) with Grade B in 5 relevant subjects including Biology and Chemistry
Foundation in Science, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Or Matriculation certificate, Ministry of Education Or Diploma,Tunku Abdul Rahman Universiti college (TAR UC) in the relevant field Or Diploma from other Institutions Of Higher Learning in the relevant field Or Foundation from other Institutions Of Higher Learning in the relevant field or Other equivalent qualifications recognised by the Malaysian government
