Physics and the technologies developed by physicists play a major role in chemistry, biology, medicine, electronics, geology, in applied fields of optics, nanotechnology, computer science, and engineering. A knowledge and understanding of the principles of physics not only leads to a profound understanding of the physical world but also supplies the scientist with the insight to develop new and innovative ideas. The technology and devices such as the cell phone, the laser printer, the internet, MRI, high temperature superconductors and high speed computers that influence our daily lives are based upon the discoveries of physics. Electronics based subjects such as advanced electronics, industrial electronics, instrumentation & measurement, communication electronics are some of the main subjects for this programme. This is then supported by additional subjects such as laser, non-destructive techniques, optoelectronics, photonics and many others which are closely related to current industry.
