COURSE OVERVIEW

Nurses make up the largest workforce within the healthcare service. Nursing careers offer a wide variety of roles and a broad scope of responsibility. There are many different types of nurses, and several different ways to obtain nursing careers. A registered nurse (RN) is a nurse who has completed a diploma in nursing, and they also passed the nursing certification exam for Registered Nurses by the UniSZA and Malaysia Board of Nursing. Nursing professional development is to ensure nurses will advanced their studies in a particular medical specialty, in which they obtain a deeper level of knowledge and experience, either in midwifery, oncology, anesthesiology, renal, pediatrics, critical care, cardiology and etc. Nurses are involved with nearly all aspects of a patient’s care, provide comfort, helping sick people, health promoter and also dealing with management and teaching roles. Demand for quality nurses continues to escalate.

At the end of the programme, graduates should be able to:



  • Produce nurses which able to think critically, apply theory into practical, and provide health promotion to ensure society health status.


  • Inculcate caring and professional values to everyone in community health services.


  • Generate highly motivated and dedicated nurses with full supported self development in their lifelong learning for career achievement.


  • Produce a quality nurse and enable to further their study either in local or international institutions.




The duration of the course for this program is 3 years which each year consists of two semesters. Each semester consists of 14 weeks of didactic and lab practical. The minimum period for the completion of this program is 6 semesters, while the maximum period allowed is 10 semester. In the final year, students need to sit Malaysia Board of Nursing Examination for licensure.
