The approach to this programme is conceptual with a strong touch of applied focus. What will be stressed is the ability to function professionally as graphic designers who possess the mastery of the communication complexities as well as being media savvy.
The primary educational objective of the Communications Graphic Department is to help students to focus on their artistic interest and talent to create coherent and viable visual images that general audiences will understand and respond to. The course prepares student to use design in solving problems for clients creatively. Graphic Communications includes a market segment that embraces the technologies of printing, publishing, packaging, electronic imaging and their allied industries, commonly referred to as the graphic arts, print, or imaging industries.
Effective contemporary graphic communication requires a mix of communications technologies: still- and motion multimedia and web sites in addition to printed media. Students develop a design language that reflects imagination and innovation rather than imitations. Projects may include the conceptualization and design of magazines, packages, posters, CD covers, shopping bags, books, advertisements, and corporate identity. With a strong emphasis on design fundamentals, graduates are thoroughly prepared to pursue creative positions in both print and electronic medias.
