COURSE OVERVIEW

Faculty of Education and Social Sciences (FESS) has developed ideas to set up and improve on university programmes that are related to the industries and designed a programme that caters to the sophistication of job requirements in this 21st century, by introducing a programme which is industrial based, BACHELOR OF ENGLISH FOR INDUSTRIES (HONS) or BEFI. This is in line with the world’s demand and requests from the corporate sector that require multi-tasking graduates with a good command of the English Language.

Bachelor of English for Industries or famously known as BEFI is a marriage of much needed good knowledge of the language and skills to get into the working world. BEFI, which has received its accreditation from MQA in December, 2016 with 121 credit hours approved., is sectionised into 2 major components; Discipline Core which presents all the courses on pure language, and Common Core that contains industrial-linked subjects. BEFI also offers a list of corporate based electives that prepare graduates for the blooming industries such as Management and Human Resource. There will be more scopes to meet the need of industries such as Communication, IT/Multimedia and Journalism offered in the future.

Passed the UNISEL Foundation Year for B. Ed. TESL or any related fields of study with good grades (CGPA 2.00 above); OR

Passed the UNISEL Diploma TESL any related fields of study with good grades (CGPA 2.00 above); OR

Passed STPM/A-levels/Matriculation or equivalent with at least two (2) Principals/CGPA of 2.00 above AND with at least MUET Band 4 / IELT Band 6.0 / TOEFL (refer to table below for equivalent level): OR
Passed MQA recognized Diploma or equivalent with a CGPA of 2.00 above AND with at least MUET Band 4 / IELT Band 6.0 / TOEFL (refer to table below for equivalent level); OR
Possess a Certificate in Teaching /The Malaysian Diploma in Teaching/ Diploma in Education /its equivalent.

NOTE :
1. Category A, B and E: Required to obtain at least MUET Band 4 / IELT Band 6.0 / TOEFL (refer to table below) before graduation for Degree
2. Equivalent level for IELTS, TOEFL (Paper/Computer-Based Test CBT/ Internet-Based Test iBT)
