Occupational safety and health is an area concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or employment. The aims of occupational safety and health programs include fostering a safe and healthy work environment. Occupational safety and health may also protect co-workers, family members, employers, customers, and many others who might be affected by the workplace environment. Occupational safety and health are the branches of public health that are concerned with the effects of occupational exposure factors on the health and well-being of people in the workplace. There is a strong demand by the global health care world for a new breed of contemporary occupational safety and health practitioners.
