Majlis Amanah Rakyat is an agency under Malaysia’s Ministry of Rural and Regional Development. Established on the 1st of March 1966, MARA is responsible for encouraging and facilitating social and economic development in the rural areas. Its main objective is to provide assistance to the Bumiputeras (especially in the rural areas) to participate in any commercial and entrepreneurial activities, thus creating a stronger community.

Scholarships Offered:

Every year, MARA offers scholarships for both local and overseas programmes, specifically for SPM, Certificate and Diploma-graduate students to further studies at Diploma or First Degree levels in the field and institution within the country set by MARA.

Who Should Apply:


  • The applicant and one of the parents are a citizen and of Bumiputera status.
  • Parents/ Guardians as well as students are NOT blacklisted by MARA.
  • Applicants do not receive financial/ sponsorship assistance from any agency for the same degree (double sponsor).
  • The courses enrolled in are courses recognized by the Malaysian Government and the Professional Body of Malaysia.
  • Has never been terminated by any sponsor for disciplinary action that is unlawful and has no criminal record.
  • Free from chronic illnesses / infectious diseases / diseases that require follow-up treatment and are able to study until completion.
  • Subject to the current policies and conditions in force.

  • Priority for the B40 Group
  • Obtain a CGPA of ≥3.90
  • Priority for the selection of place of study are at the Top 10 University by Country and Top 30 World Universities by Subjects
