Borrowers who fail to make repayment for Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) loan will face difficulties to apply for bank loans to buy houses or properties.

PTPTN repayment

This is because their names will be blacklisted through the CCRIS computerized database. Moreover, the blacklisting process will also affect borrowers who are not consistent in making repayments.

This was confirmed by the PTPTN Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Policies and Operations) Mastura Mohd Khalid, who informed that the step was taken due to the low repayment rate starting from February.

Meanwhile, Association of Banks in Malaysia (ABM) responded that the poor record of repayment from previous PTPTN borrowers will give implications to new PTPTN applicants.
