  • New database to encourage borrowers to pay their PTPTN loan diligently

To encourage repayment among borrowers, the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) will use the Central Credit Reference Information System (CCRIS). CCRIS is a database system that contains credit information on about 9 million borrowers in Malaysia including PTPTN loan holders.

With the help of the National Bank, PTPTN can use the data to evaluate the credit worthiness of a customer. It's a decision-making tool for financial institutions. It will show a customer's:

  • Details of all existing personal credit facilities
  • Details of balance outstanding and credit limit
  • Other info such as frequency of payment and type of collateral are also included
  • It doesn't show the name of the institution that provided the loan/credit

Until June 30 PTPTN had approved funding of education to 2.2 million students with a total amount of RM49.9 billion.
