Your SPM results have already been released and you’ve finally decided your course of study. Unfortunately, you’ve met with some financial restraints on the way and getting a scholarship might require some luck. PTPTN could be the solution to help your financial problems but there are a few things that you need to consider before applying for that loan.

The loan by PTPTN has always been sought after by students wishing to pursue a tertiary education in Malaysia. Find out if you are eligible to apply for this popular financial aid with our guide:
Students from different races and geographic backgrounds can apply for PTPTN as long as they are MALAYSIAN
PTPTN is a privilege only awarded to people with a Malaysian citizenship.

You should be not more than 45 years of age on the date of application.
PTPTN actually wants you to pay for your tuition fees first as they will usually give the money at the end of the semester. Therefore, you need to be studying in a course first
You will need to provide your offer letter or proof of studying at an institution.

Courses and institutions registered and approved by the Ministry of Education.
For IPTS
Courses and institutions accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).

If you’re already enrolled in university or college, your remaining period of study at the time of application should not be less than one (1) year. First year students should not experience any problems in this aspect.
You will not get a loan from PTPTN if you currently are under a scholarship or another loan - Image via Blue Diamond
If you are already under a certain other sponsorship or loan, you cannot apply for PTPTN.
Before you start applying for a PTPTN loan, make sure you have already set up a SSPN-i account with a deposit - Image via Encikst
Skim Simpanan Pendidikan Nasional (SSPN-i) is a savings scheme or instrument specially designed by PTPTN. Students who wish to apply for PTPTN are REQUIRED to have an SSPN-i account with a minimum deposit as determined by PTPTN. You are encouraged to open your SSPN-i account at Maybank, Bank Islam, Agrobank, Bank Rakyat or RHB Bank.
