STPM :
A good pass with at least a:
Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in Pengajian Am and Grade C (NGMP 2.00) in two (2) other subjects
Diploma :
Obtain at least a CGPA of 3.00 in the following:
- Management
- Human Resource Management
- Business Management
- Accounting
Obtain a diploma approved by the Malaysian government and the University’s Senate with at least CGPA 3.00
Matriculation :
A good pass in Sijil Matrikulasi KPM/Asasi Sains UM with a minimum CGPA of 2.00
Important Note: Diploma is not offered for this course. Students can enrol for a pre-university programme before applying for a degree in Political Science. This course is mostly offered in public universities, thus, it would be advisable to opt for the government pre-university route for easier access to public universities in the future. .
It is not necessary for you to do your postgraduate but doing so would help you advance in your career and open up more job opportunities. You can opt to work straight after degree as well.
You’ll be dealing with world politics, and therefore need to adopt and hone the ability to use logic arguments and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solutions, conclusions to various problems.
Knowledge and understanding of laws, legal codes, court procedures, government regulations, international politics and policy is vital and a necessity in this field. You can’t afford to not be well read and up to date with the current trends.
Regardless of the job path, you may have to handle discussions, conflicts, treaties, collaborations between two parties that need to be tackled with patience, tact and diplomacy.
