COURSE OVERVIEW

Due to the current shift towards a knowledge-based economy, there is a growing demand for highly-educated teachers or educational leaders to manage schools and institutions more effectively.

In line with this demand, the Master of Education is designed with the following objectives:

To produce graduates who have wide education knowledge and skills to function as effective teachers, education officers or lecturers in educational institutions.
To produce education leaders who are capable of making decisions, planning and carrying out duties that are entrusted on them effectively.
To produce academicians who are capable of conducting research in their related fields of specialization.

The Master of Education is especially suited for teachers, school principals, college lecturers and other education personnel who wish to equip themselves with up-to-date knowledge and specialized skills for continuous personal improvement as well as career enhancement in their professions.

Mode A (Coursework and Research)

Normal Entry

Bachelor degree in related field accepted by Senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.75; or
Bachelor degree in related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 but below 2.75 is acceptable subject to a comprehensive internal assessment; or
Bachelor degree below CGPA of 2.50 is acceptable subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in a related field.

APEL Entry

Malaysian; and
Candidate must be 30 years old and above in the year of the application being made; and
Possess Diploma/A-Levels/STPM qualification or equivalent; and
Have previous working experience/learning relevant to the field applied; and
Pass APEL Assessment for Master Degree (conducted by OUM)

Mode B (Coursework)

Normal Entry

Bachelor degree in related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent as accepted by Senate and possess a recognised Diploma in Education or Certificate/Diploma in Teaching; or
Bachelor Degree in Education with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or its equivalent as accepted by Senate; or
Bachelor degree or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, is acceptable subject to a minimum of 2 years working experience in related field; or
Bachelor degree or its equivalent but with CGPA below 2.50, is acceptable subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in a related field.

OR APEL Entry

Malaysian; and
