Why should you study Marketing?

Brands like Coca-Cola, Nike or even McDonalds become well-loved household names all because of Marketing.

With so many degree options out there, here are some top reasons why you should study Marketing:

Always in demand

Isn’t it nice to obtain a degree that will always be in demand so you don’t have to worry about finding a job? Well, a degree in Marketing will be evergreen. Every firm needs a Marketing Manager to strategise the company’s communication, educate customers and present to clients in an interesting way.

Various career options

A degree in Marketing will lead you to a wide range of careers. Not only does it help you brush up on sales pitches but also build a solid foundation on business.

Powerful tool

The art of strategising the company's communications to your target market is not an easy one. You miss one day and the trend has changed. How will you keep up? How are you going to tell your clients to buy your product when there's a newer one in the market? How will you sell your service to a specific demographic? All these can be done with plenty of market research analysis, creative writing and in-depth study of consumer's behaviour.

What skills do you need for a course in Marketing?

Creative

You always go shopping with your mum, but you have a way of making it interesting, every single time. You always have something interesting to talk about when you meet up with your friends, even if you’re not up to date with the current state of affairs. That’s because your mind is a creative hive, the produces various ways of seeing something old and known, and making it seem like new, and relevant once again. Like a magician, minus the wand and cape.

Team player

You’ve probably been part of the committee in school, whether it be a society or a uniform body. Maybe you were president, perhaps someone ranked lower. Whatever your position was, you were undoubtedly good at what you did. You lead by example, and most importantly, fairly. You also listened to those around you, took their suggestions seriously in a calculated manner, instead of going power crazy! You’ve always been a firm believer that a team is only as strong as its weakest link.

Versatile

You play sports like football, tennis badminton and basketball. You play board games like chess, scrabble, and monopoly. You go out and socialize quite a lot with friends, and you also stay at home by yourself. You do almost everything, and you’re comfortable in every single activity. Perhaps you’re not good at everything you do, but doesn’t stop you. You aren’t worried what the day has in store for you, because you’ll always be comfortable doing it (unless it’s getting into a ring with Conor McGregor!), the signature trait of a versatile person.
