The Doctor of Medicine program, will cover a total of five years and it comprises of 2 phases i.e a 2 year basic medical science phase followed by a 3 year clinical phase. Each year will comprise 2 semesters, each of 20 weeks teaching and learning duration. Clinicians will participate in teaching activities in the second year to provide clinical orientation and interpretation. Inclusion of basic science lectures during the 3 clinical years will provide the necessary vertical integration between basic medical science and clinical teaching and learning process.The first 2 years of basic medical science is being conducted in the Petaling Jaya campus while the clinical phase will be carried out in the hospitals and clinics situated in Kota Bharu, Kelantan, Malaysia.At the end of the MD programme, graduates will acquire the required knowledge, develop essential clinical competencies and imbibe the right professional attitudes as well as values, which will help them to work as effective primary care physicians.Duties of medical doctors include, examination of patients, diagnosis, prescribing of medicines, minor operations and treating injuries, diseases as well as other ailments. Matriculation or Foundation in Science or Pre-Medical Course ( Provided the course is not less than 1 year in the same institution and accredited and with CGPA 3.0 (out of 4) each in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics, or3. General Certificate of Education Advanced (“A”) levels with Grade B each in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics, or 4. South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with aggregate or average of 80% or 80% ATAR or its equivalent and 80% each in Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics, or 5. United Education Certificate (UEC) with B4 each in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics, or 6. International Baccalaureate (IB) with 30 points with a minimum of 2 science subjects or Mathematics at Higher Level (HL) and 1 science subject at Standard Level and attained a minimum score of 4 each in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics, or 7. Monash University Foundation Pre-University Program (MUFY) or University of New South Wales (UNSW) Foundation or HSC Sydney Australia or Trinity College Foundation Studies or Australian Universities Foundation Programmes or Victorian Certificate of Education, Australia Year 12 or Australian Matriculation (Ausmat) with Aggregate or average of 80% or the equivalent of B in any 3 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics, or 80% ATAR provided the subjects include Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics, or10. National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 or New Zealand Bursary with average of 80% in any 3 subjects i.e. Biology, Chemistry, and Physics or Mathematics.
Diploma level
Diploma in Health Sciences with CGPA 3.5 (out of 4.0) and provided the course is not less than 5 semesters or 2 1/2 years in the same accredited institution and the minimum entry qualification is 2Bs each in Biology and/or Chemistry and/or Physics and 3 credits each in English and Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and another subject at School Certificate level or its equivalent.
