Geology is the study of Earth sciences, the formation and topography of other planets like Mars in Malaysia.
Were two of your favourite subjects in school geography and history? Do you care about the environment greatly? Are you interested in how we can use the resources of Earth in ways that minimise damage to the environment? Do you wonder how do professionals develop early warning systems to earthquakes or tsunamis and search for energy resources to overcome the depletion of petroleum or analyse fossil fuels to understand evolution? Being a Geologist means going on adventure. The kind of adventure that can take you all over the world. From the barren desert to the most beautiful waterfalls and jungles in the world, you will be able to experience all that excitement.
With so many degree options out there, here are some top reasons why you should study Geology:
Most people are aware that there is such a thing as ‘Geology’ but there are not aware how important it is, hence, those venturing in this field have a wide range of opportunities when applying for a job.
You have to be well aware of new technologies because this field needs strong skills for making models, digital mapping, data analysing, etc.
Your involvement in plenty of research means you’ll be the first to know if something new comes up, discover for yourself unique findings and understand the importance of natural resources.
“The Geologist takes up the history of the earth at the point where the Archaeologist leaves it, and carries it further back into remote antiquity.”

Geology is a subject for curious people. If you are keen to discover more about the dynamics of Earth, its resources and economics - things not everyone knows - then this is a strong choice.
Students who enjoy working outdoors will find this field of earth sciences a rewarding area of study. Field trips are commonplace, rather than a rare luxury.
Some of the biggest problems facing the world today can be solved by geologists. They are in constant demand for advice and study of natural hazards, dwindling resources and climate change.
