Youth and Sports Ministry plans to establish Sports University for Malaysia's Athletes
- A university for sports should be created, said Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Razali Ibrahim during a seminar on Development of Higher Education Institutions Football 2012 at the Universiti Teknologi Mara held 19 September.
- The university will help the country's future athletes as well as the development of sports in the country.
- For the meantime, the Youth and Sports Ministry is looking to have twinning programmes with foreign sports universities for local universities to adopt their model.
- Among these foreign universities is the Korean National Sports University, the only university sport in South Korea.
- Previously, Johan Cruyff Institute for Sports Studies has settled in Iskandar Malaysia. The institute offers certificate to master programmes and provide former and active athletes opportunities to pursue new careers.
