One thing is for certain, University of Malaya (UM) continues to push the Malaysian name to new heights in the academic arena, as seen by their continued and sustained surge up multiple university rankings. Today though, a new landmark was reached, as UM cracked the top 10 of the U.S. News 2018 Global Universities Ranking for the subject of Engineering.
In the list that can be seen below, populated by household names from America, China, the UK and Singapore, University of Malaya can stand tall knowing they're mentioned in the same breath as academic giants such as the National University of Singapore (NUS), Imperial College London, and even the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
UM wasn't the only Malaysian representative on the full list however, as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was #50, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) was tied for #123, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was tied for #168 and rounding up the famous five was Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), who ranked #202. Below is the list of Malaysian universities ranked based on engineering, taken from the official website of U.S. News Global Rankings.
