Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) will commence construction of its new teaching hospital this September 2014. The new teaching hospital is worth RM600 million and is expected to complete by end-2017. Operations however can begin as early as Q2 2016.
To be built on a 20.2-hectare property in Gong Badak campus, the new hospital has a capacity of 400 beds. Once the first phase of the project is completed, medical students of the university can start practising their knowledge as well as cater to the people in the city.
UniSZA's teaching hospital is touted as the third Islamic university hospital in the country, after the International Islamic University Malaysia and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia hospitals, which employ Islamic methods of medical treatment on their patients.
