The UK is a popular destination for students wishing to further their studies, so it is no wonder that a fair number of them showed up for the seminar on the 26th of February, when university representatives visited MCKL, hailing from King’s College London, Imperial College London, University College London (UCL) and the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London (SOAS).

These universities are considered top tier in their fields of specialisation and are also globally renowned for academic excellence, and MCKL had the privilege of hosting their visit to give a talk to our students about the benefits of studying in the UK and in their respective institutions.

In general, UK degrees were said to have sharper focus and are suitable for those who are certain about their direction and goals in their studies. Additionally, London is considered a global academic capital, with over forty universities and world-class resources such as libraries and museums. The representatives noted that Malaysians were often amongst the 400 thousand students enrolled yearly in London universities, and that they were a valued part of the student community.

Students raise their hands for their chance to ask questions

After that, students were given introductions to the specific qualities of each university by their respective representatives. They covered aspects such as university reputation and credentials, entry requirements and fields of specialisation. In particular, students were advised to be aware that different institutions may have different approaches when it comes to teaching the same subject, and so would benefit greatly from doing thorough research before selecting their place of study.

Before ending the session, the representatives opened the floor to students and took the time to answer any questions they had relating to their studies. Overall, the event was a success, and we hope that there will be many more opportunities for students to learn about their study options in the future.
