At Afterschool.my, we’ve always emphasized on the importance of finding courses that can guarantee employability. Gone are the days where fresh graduates can immediately find jobs after they complete their studies – now, the competition is fiercer, and students have higher walls to climb in order to survive.
In order to be ahead of the competition, students now need to look for courses that are in high demand in the working world. So, what are the top courses with high job demand?
Business Studies
Business studies focuses on how organizations operate - what they do, their styles of management and their business strategies. In the beginning, be prepared to soak in knowledge on all things business - from marketing, finance, and supply chain to technology - where you’ll get a broad perspective of how businesses run. Therefore, a diploma or a bachelor’s degree in Business Studies provides opportunities for students to develop and demonstrate business working knowledge, as well as creativity and innovation in business.
Human Resource Management
The Human Resource Management course is the study related to the management of people within an organisation. A diploma or bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management aims to provide students with the relevant knowledge and practical skills such as operational, entrepreneurial, social and problem solving skills to perform and communicate professionally in the business industry from the perspective of the human management discipline.
Psychology
Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour and mental processes — specifically, understanding how people think, feel, act and interact with themselves and with others. Hence, a diploma or bachelor’s degree programme in Psychology aims to provide students with knowledge, practical skills and understanding in psychology at the fundamental level. The course will prepare students to apply their learning in various work setting related to psychology as well as for academic development. This way, students will be trained to demonstrate the application of psychology knowledge interpersonally, in teamwork and an organisation.
Artificial Intelligence
The Artificial Intelligence course is aimed to cultivate an Artificial Intelligence (AI) practitioners with the ability to implement various AI models and algorithms that lead to new technology in align with the development of industry revolution. Students will acquire theoretical and practical AI knowledge in analysing, modelling, designing, developing and evaluating AI solutions. This course covers a few areas of AI including Python programming, machine learning, neural network, applied computer vision and deep learning.
Graphic Design
Graphic Design involves communication with clear and easily understandable visuals. Compared to other Design courses, Graphic Design is focused on crafting appealing visual aids to attract a group of audience. Students will graduate with a strong portfolio of practical work and will be industry-ready to produce effective materials for print or online publishing. Students will also improve their software knowledge by doing practical work throughout the course using the Adobe Creative Suite therefore applying their designs on print, digital, or interactive platforms with the right media.
Accountancy
Accounting involves recording, analysing and reporting financial transactions in order for companies to be able to make strategic business decisions. Students will be trained to use business, law and accounting techniques, as well as preparing financial and non-financial information, tax computation and reporting to help any organisation in future decision making.
Business Administration
Business administration involves all aspects of overseeing and supervising business operations. It also covers fields that include accounting, finance, project management and marketing. An important feature of this business programme is the requirement of a final year project (FYP) and a professional (internship) attachment. These together will bring reflective and analytic learning experiences to students and further strengthen their creativity and managerial skills with a capstone Strategic Management module.
Interior Design
Interior design is the artistic planning and decoration of a property’s interior. Which is why a diploma or bachelor’s degree in Interior Design tend to be industry focused and relevant to the workplace. The curriculum for Interior Design courses is generally aimed at developing creative and technical skills through project based learning. This course promotes knowledge and skills through project work and advances the students’ thinking through the development of a personal research capability.
