Monash University is one of Australia's top public universities that has achieved an elite status among the world top universities in spite of its young age (58 years old) compared to University of Sydney (166 years old). Monash University holds the 65th place among the world top universities according to the QS World University ranking, holds the 4th place in the world’s top universities for pharmacy & pharmacology, the 16th place in the world’s top universities for nursing, and the 39th place in the world’s top universities for medicine. It is worth noting that the University of Sydney holds the 17th place the field of medicine.
In Malaysia, Monash has a branch campus that caters for both Malaysian and international students who are interested in getting an Australian degree in Malaysia. The university's branch campus here will be having a new intake in March of 2017 for MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery).
One of the benefits of studying medicine at Monash University, Malaysia Campus is that students will be exposed to hands-on experience in the field. Students in year three and through-out year five, of their medical degree will be based in the Clinical School in Johor Baru. The clinical school is strategically located next to Sultanah Aminah Hospital, a tertiary and referral hospital where the clinical studies will be centred. The clinical school will be hosting an event on Saturday, 10th of September to showcase the available facilities and provide advice for students and parents who have an interest in medical studies at Monash.
Medicine and health science at Monash university is accredited by the Malaysian Medical Council and the Australian Medical Council.
According to the university, there are 20 MBBS bursaries available and JPA and Mara scholars are also welcomed to apply.
