Mara announces the establishment of its second university to begin next year.
Rural and regional development minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob yesterday announced at a Mara event that the new university will be based in Kuala Lumpur and will accept 200 students in its first enrolment.
Mara, the rural development agency, first developed Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Malaysia's largest institution of higher learning.
According to the minister, Universiti Majlis Amanah Rakyat (UniMara) is set under Mara's Rural Transformation Programme. He told media that they hope to focus on improving the quality of education and further expand their campus once the university is open.
