  • In line with the government's Economic Transformation Plan (ETP), DreamEdge Sdn Bhd (DESB) hopes to help Malaysia become a global engineering hub by 2015.
  • DESB, an engineering service provider, aims to educate and train 500 engineering students come 2015. Presently they have 80 engineers, a remarkable increase from the three engineers in 2008.
  • To make this happen, DESB will invest in fresh engineering graduates by offering them jobs and trainig to achieve a high level of competency.
  • Malaysia is already functioning as a regional hub for engineering though on a small scale. A project alone would involve about 20 engineers.
  • Germany, Japan and other countries in Europe also required engineering services from Malaysia as the cost was low but the quality uncompromised.
  • According to DESB, Malaysia has been producing mechanical engineers employed in factories which should be taken over by graduates in the field of manufacturing engineering.
  • To ensure the development of the engineering industry, the company is working closely with the Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA), the Ministry of INternational Trade and Industry, the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) as well as the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (PEMANDU).
