Are you someone who is tech-savy, an inventor and a problem-solver? Why not profit from these passions?
The first step to consider is studying at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), one of the first private universities in Malaysia, located in Selangor. It is wholly owned by the public-listed Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), established in 1976.
Their vision is to become a leading university in global energy. Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) currently offers 50 programmes in the following fields: Engineering, IT and Business. These programmes are presented in the form of Pre-University, Bachelor’s and Postgraduate.
You will be pleased to know these programmes contain a cultivating, dynamic curriculum, consisting of project work, research, open-ended experiments and practical training. Their syllabus is designed with input from the industrial and commercial sectors as well as from local and foreign universities. They currently have three windows of intakes; January, June and September; so have an idea exactly when you want to begin your education.
It should also be noted that the tuition fees can vary depending on the program and whether or not you are an international student. It can also be pricey as a premium education. For example, a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (Hons) degree for local students costs RM18,750 a year and RM 19,500 for International students, while a Foundation in Engineering costs RM17,000 a year for local students and RM 20,000 for International students.
Luckily, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) offers numerous scholarships and financial aids for students. Examples of scholarships they accept that you can try to apply for are: Gamuda Scholarship 2021, Hong Leong Foundation (HLF) Scholarship 2021, Sarawak Energy Scholarship 2021. Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) prides itself on how they try to be physically and culturally accessible to a widespread number of prospective students from afar through their convenient and strategic location. Their main campus is decisively located in the Klang Valley close to Kuala Lumpur, Petaling Jaya, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). They also strive to create the most inspiring, dynamic space possible for both local and international students through their exceptional sports and student support facilities, cozy furnished student housing and recreational student sports and political clubs.
Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) not only prepares its graduates to become efficient and resourceful professionals through their extensive, practical training but also through their internship opportunities with companies that the university has partnered with. The institution will assist the students every step of the way in applying and securing an internship/job position through offering career & academic counselling but also personal guidance counselling to improve one’s mental health.
It is no wonder that Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) has a 94% Employability Rate within 6 months of Graduation according to the Ministry of Higher Education, along with being ranked among #101-150 in QS Top 50 Under 50 Rankings (2019) and among #801-1000 in THE World University Rankings (2018).
