Students can now gain 2 degrees, with the expertise of 3 universities, all from just 1 admission. Don’t believe us? Then read on and become a believer!
As the competitive nature of this day and age goes up a couple notches with each passing day, sometimes a single degree just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore. This is where a dual award degree programme comes into the picture. The premise is simple: A single programme, which will see you awarded with not one, but two degrees at the same time. Although this programme would normally be lent the expertise of two universities, one such programme calls on the prowess of three world renowned intuitions, University of Malaya (UM), the University of Wales, and the university in question itself, the International University of Malaya-Wales (IUMW). Today, we shall delve deeper into this amazing opportunity, which affords 2 degrees and the expertise of 3 universities, for just 1 admission.
What is IUMW?
IUMW is the brainchild of a joint, collaborative effort from two of the world’s leading institutions, University of Malaya (UM) and the University of Wales. With a combined 200+ years in unfathomably valuable experience, it should come as no surprise to learn that IUMW is the first university in South East Asia to be accepted as a member of the United Kingdom's Higher Education Academy (HEA), a renowned British body for learning and teaching in higher education.
What Courses do IUMW Offer?
IUMW offers undergraduate and postgraduate programme to both local and international students. Fields of study include: Arts & Humanities, Business & Law, Health & Social Sciences and Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) subjects. Will I Be Conferred 2 Certificates Upon Graduation?
Yes, you will. IUMW students who qualify can opt for a dual ward, whereby graduates of said programme will receive a degree from both IUMW and the University of Wales. IUMW students are also permitted to take part in student exchange programmes offered by the institution, providing them an opportunity to the University of Wales in the UK for a pre-determined period.
How does University of Malaya (UM) contribute to IUMW?
More than just lending their name to the institution, UM lend their extensive resources to IUMW students by giving them access to their libraries, sports facilities, laboratories, and other facilities. IUMW students get to spend a semester at UM for no additional as well.
How does the University of Wales contribute to IUMW?
As previously mentioned, there are various student exchange opportunities, which provides IUMW students the opportunity to partake in one (1) semester for free at the University of Wales, in the UK. IUMW students can also transfer their credits and study up to 3 years at University of Wales.
Are IUMW Degrees Recognised in Malaysia?
All their academic programmes are recognised by both the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and Ministry of Education (MOE). Additionally, all IUMW courses are validated and accredited by the relevant professional bodies, ensuring students will have no issues in regards to furthering their careers later on.
How Much are the Courses Offered at IUMW?
The prices that are charged by IUMW are competitive with that of other private institutions found around Malaysia. IUMW also provides scholarships for their Foundation and Undergraduate programmes, subject to terms and conditions of course. Furthermore, PTPTN application services are also available on campus, easing the application process for students.
