Choosing a course to pursue in university is about more than just the fees or facilities available on the campus. Thinking ahead and planning your future career is also a key step in deciding the course you choose because surely you would rather not be spending up to four years studying a course and then working in a completely different field altogether.
If you’re not sure about the course you’re choosing just yet, you can still find out what you can become when you graduate from a certain course. A lot of people are still unaware of how broad the job scopes of a course can be; for example, studying medicine doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll have to end up becoming a doctor! If you like the subjects in a medical course but would rather do research instead of practising in hospitals, it’s important to know that the options are there for you.
Once such university that offers a number of courses that align with the industry’s demand, and also outlines the career options for you is AIMST University. Below are only a handful of the courses that they offer.
B.Eng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Electrical and Electronic Engineering at AIMST University combines both academic study and research projects to prepare students for the professional practice of engineering. Technopreneurship is also applied in the programme, giving it a marketable appeal. However, as mentioned above, by joining this programme, you won’t automatically have to become an engineer! The availability of jobs for engineering graduates is at an all-time high. Some of the career options you would have include:
These opportunities are also not limited to Electrical and Electronic Engineering, but also other major and minor areas such as:
BSc. (Hons) Business & Marketing
The business degree at AIMST combines the knowledge of both business studies with marketing skills and practices, giving you a taste of both areas. Career options for this course include:
BSc. (Hons) Finance & Management and BSc. (Hons) Accounting & Finance
Their Finance & Management course provides you with in-depth knowledge of finance and management, while the Accounting & Finance covers all areas of accountancy and financial accounting. Among the career options you have for these courses are:
BSc. (Hons) Management Information Systems
This course combines both the principles of management and information system subjects, so you would be learning the components of information systems, software and telecommunications. Some career options for you are:
BSc. (Hons) Biotechnology and BSc. (Hons) Bioinformatics
Biotechnology provides various career opportunities that perhaps not everybody knows about, such as:
BSc. (Hons) Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists examine and treat impairment, functional limitations and disabilities in patients. Even then, the career options are not limited, as physiotherapists practice in diverse employment opportunities such as hospitals, medical centres, physiotherapy clinics, outpatient clinics, orthopaedic clinics, health and wellness clinics, rehab centres, nursing homes, extended care facilities, education and research centres, fitness and sports training centres, schools, and industrial facilities.
