QUESTION 1:

What does UPU do?

BPKP (formerly known as UPU) as part of the Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) holds the authority in developing, executing and oversee the principles in improving academic institutions and is responsible in processing and coordinate students' entry into IPTA, Premier Polytechnics, Conventional Polytechnics (METro), Community Colleges and Public Vocational Training Institutes (ILKA) for the Postgraduate Studies Program of SPM, SKM and STPM leavers and their euivalent.

QUESTION 2:

How does UPU decide students' enrollment into IPTA?

Basic recruitment and selection for admission to universities for STPM/Matriculation/Foundation (First Degree) holders is in line with government policy to realize the Ministerial Key Result Areas (KRA) of improving access and equity in tertiary education to the people through the use of the meritocracy principle: 90% academic and 10% co-curriculum. The determination of the merits are carried out without regards to religion, race, ethnicity, country, place of residence and so on.

QUESTION 3:

How do I register for IPTA enrollment?

Applications for admission to the university can be reached through the Online Application entirely through the website http://upu.moe.gov.my and applications will be opened from 19 January to 6 April 2015.

QUESTION 5:

Help! I filled the registration form incorrectly, what should I do?

Wrong information in your form may cause difficulties in your application process. Please inform BPKP (UPU) at these hotline numbers: 03-8870 67767/6778/6767/6755/6777

QUESTION 6:

Do I need to key in my SPM results and attach copies of certificates to prove my co-curricular history?

No. These information will be adjusted with the Department of Co-curriculum and Arts, Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) except for Diploma/equivalent holders and SPM leavers from the C Category.

QUESTION 7:

I am not a Malaysian citizen, can I still apply for IPTA?

No, because the Postgraduate Studies Program for SPM/equivalent holders is only open to Malaysian citizens only. However, the study program for STPM/equivalent holders is open to non-Malaysian citizens but you will have to apply directly to the university of choice through the Registrar's Academic and Admission Department by using the special form provided by the institutions.

Applicants with permanent resident status may still apply through the Online Application at http://upu.moe.gov.my

QUESTION 8:

My parents lost/misplaced their birth certificates, can I still apply?

You may refer to the nearest National Registration Department (NRD) office or inquire online at http://www.jpn.gov.my/en/ to get a replacement certificate

QUESTION 9:

Will I be able to update the information I have previously keyed in?

Yes, candidates are allowed to submit one (1) application and are allowed UNLIMITED updates until the closing date.

QUESTION 10:

Do I need to print out a copy of my application form and submit it to my IPTA of choice?

Yes but only for the Category for Diploma/equivalent (STPM/equivalent leavers – First Degree) and Category C for SPM/equivalent graduates. Applicants should print out their applications and send it with an attached document copy approved by your IPTA of choice except for UiTM.
