Unisel recognises UEC to prevent brain drain in Malaysia

Universiti Selangor (Unisel) announced that it would recognise the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) in Malaysian independent Chinese secondary schools beginning 2016.

According to the Selangor Mentri Besar, Azmin Ali, this move by the state-owned university was meant to reduce the increasing brain drain issue in Malaysia. He said, “3,000 students end their education with the UEC every year,” with 60 independent secondary Chinese schools offering the certificate every year.

Presently, only Sarawak recognises and accepts the UEC certificates.
