Egypt is a very popular study destination among Malaysians in terms of studying medicine and religious studies.
The following is a list of universities where the medical programme they provide is recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council:
Tuition fees: £ 9,000 (RM50,200) for the entire programme
Enrolment fee: £1,000 (RM5,570)
The university was found in 1950 and recognised by the council in 1975 as well. It is a public institution and has a faculty of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing.

The university’s history dates back to 1908 and was recognised by the Malaysian medical council in 1975. Cairo University is situated in the heart of Great Cairo close to all services and entertainment sites. The university has about 7,000 students from the middle east, Malaysia and other countries in the African continent.
Tuition fee: From £9,000 (RM50,132) - £10,000 (RM55,702) for the entire programme.
The university dates back to 1962 and had gone through a long string of changes that lead the university to be recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council in 1978 and that recognition still continues to this day.

Mansoura University was founded in 1972 in Mansoura city, Egypt. Mansoura is located at the middle of the Nile Delta in Egypt. It is one of the biggest Egyptian universities and has contributed much to the cultural and scientific life in Mansoura and Egypt. It was recognised by MMC in 1978.
Regular tuition fees for international students are approximately £18,000 (RM 100,264). However, the university has a large number of Malaysian students. Therefore, the university has setup a different Tuition fees structure for Malaysians students.
Tuition fees: US$8,000 (RM35,698) annually
The university is the 7th university to be established in Egypt back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. it was recognised by the Malaysian government in 1978.

The university is one of the oldest universities in Egypt and the Muslim world dating back to 975. The university continues to contribute to the national and international education. Among Malaysian Muslim students, this university represents an outstanding choice that combines both a highly accredited qualification with a strong religious value.

Each following year: £1,500 (RM8,356)
Egypt is a country that primarily speaks Arabic and a basic knowledge in the Arabic language comes as an advantage. The medium of instruction in Egyptian universities is Arabic and English and international students will learn in English.
There are many agents that are promoting studying in Egypt. Some of them are organised and operate in a straight forward manner and - most importantly – legal. However, there are many agents out there that target unsuspecting students and families. In September of 2016, 150 Malaysian students studying medicine in Egypt fell victims to a whopping debt of RM4.5 million in unpaid tuition fees due to the devaluation of the ringgit.
However, the devaluation isn’t the only reason why many of these students were in debt. Unauthorised agents who are preying on students and their families and get them to enrol in universities without having the proper financial support to get them through the admission process.
Students and their families must be vigilant and investigate the case thoroughly and get the securities they need before going to Egypt.
