STPM results looking better everyday

Education Deputy Minister Datuk P. Kamalanathan has said that Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) has seen a significant improvement since the rebranding of Six Form education in 2012, Bernama reports.

There is an upward trend observable throughout the past four years. CGPA is reported to be 2.33, 2.54, 2.62, 2.65 in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, respectively.

"This proves that the Sixth Form education re-branding exercise had succeeded in improving quality and learning," Kamalanathan said to question about the performance of STPM By Budiman Mohd Zohdi (BN-Sungai Besar) in the Dewan Rakyat this week.

STPM qualification is recognised by the United Kingdom, Germany, most universities in the US and many of the world's top universities, and it enjoys a strong endorsement from the Public Service Department (JPA). This recognition gives Malaysians the opportunity to access quality education in Malaysia and top education destination around the world.

"What's more encouraging, with STPM-certified students are accepted for admission at Commonwealth universities such as Cambridge University, Oxford University, University of Auckland and other major universities," he said.

According to the deputy minister, the number of registered students in STPM this year is 57,485, higher than last year's 51,276. Additionally, the percentage of students who have dropped out has decreased by 1.35% for the academic year of 2014/2015 compared to 2013/2014.
