PTPTN loan repayment exemption for first-class bachelor’s degree graduates

The government has announced an exemption for all borrowers on their PTPTN loan who graduate with a first-class bachelor's degree.

Currently, these exemptions have only applied to borrowers who are in the B40 and M40 income groups who have obtain a first-class bachelor's degree.Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has said that PTPTN would discuss the allocations needed with the finance ministry.

“The government will be providing loan repayment exemption for PTPTN borrowers who graduate with a first-class bachelor’s degree, regardless of socio-economic status, race and religion,” said the Prime Minister during PTPTN’s silver jubilee celebration.

He said that students who have graduated from 2019 onwards will be eligible for these exemptions.

“This is an incentive for the students to study hard and obtain the best results.”

Earlier in February, the government announced that nearly 80,000 students would be eligible for loan repayment exemptions with amounts totalling up to RM2.06 billion from PTPTN
