MARA sponsored students to continue studying abroad

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) will not reduce the number of sponsored students, said Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development.

Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub stated that, MARA will conduct research and new policy alternatives for selecting countries to sponsor students following the country's economic situation at the moment.

One of the alternatives is MARA will give priority to countries with low cost of living but at the same time offer quality education.

"For example, we reduce sending students to the United Kingdom. Instead we send them to other countries like India which has low cost of living," he said.
