Malaysia is one of the world's most expensive destination for overseas students, according to research from HSBC. Out of the 15 countries, Malaysia ranked eighth in the list. Singapore, the United States, and the United Kingdom took top ranks of the survey results.
The survey, which was carried out by Ipsos MORI, revealed that students need an average of USD42,000 a year to meet university fees and living costs in the country.
Findings were based on publicly available sources including university websites.
In terms of respondents' perception on education, the US was rated highest among most parents. The UK came second. In Asia, parents highly regard Australia's quality of education. It was ranked among the top three by parents in Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia.
