INTEC Education College has produced its first batch of Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) graduates with the aid of Centre of Professional Accountancy UiTM (IPAC Education), and with an astounding success rate.
A total of 117 students have graduated yesterday from INTEC taking full advantage of the IPAC Education programme created by UiTM. Among the graduates, 54 students had an exceptional performance and were awarded the Chief Executive Award for their achievement as they scored more than 75 percent each semester.
These graduate are now Certified Accounting Technician (CAT). This is the first time in the world that 100% of all students passed the examination and exceeded the world standards by 28%.
CAT is created by the Association of Charted Certified Accountants (ACCA) and is considered a pathway to higher professional ACCA qualifications. Students with CAT qualification are eligible to enrol in the 4 year programme for the ACCA qualification.
Syarah Syahirah Sugianto is the graduate that stole the spotlight by having a perfect score (100%) in Maintaining Finanacial Records. She is the first person in Malaysia and the world to achieve such score in this subject. Additionally, she obtained the highest score in the world for Accounting in Business.
The event also celebrated Nabila Syuhada Mohd Kamal Azmy, who obtained 96 percent for Recording Financial Transaction and a 98 percent in Management Information. Last but not least, the event also recognised Mohammed Shafiq Mohammed Yunus who obtained 96 percent for Maintaining Cost and Finance, the highest in the world.
In an exclusive interview with Afterschool.my, Associate Professor Mahfudzah Mohamed, Director of IPAC Education, said that Malaysia is in need of more professional accountants, especially those with Bumiputera status. The organisation is aiming to divert students straight into the accounting world by exposing them to exams with necessary relevance and practicality for the world of business and accountancy.
UiTM created the Centre of Professional Accountancy UiTM (IPAC Education) on March 25, 2015 as a private entity under UiTM Holdings. This centre aims to be the pioneer and leader in providing professional accounting programmes specifically for the Bumiputeras. Initially, this centre is located at INTEC, Section 17, Shah Alam.
