Having a parent who owns a business can profoundly inspire the next generation, offering a first-hand example of how innovation, dedication and a personal touch can turn a vision into a thriving reality. A recent global survey reveals that in Asia, including Malaysia, the key to preserving a family business legacy across generations lies in the practice of transgenerational entrepreneurship. Judith Goh's story embodies this principle as she grew up with Branco, her father's elevator company, where she was immersed in the essence of business from an early age. Nurtured by her father's drive and passion, Judith naturally gravitated toward business studies, eventually pursuing both a Diploma and a Degree in Business at INTI International University.
She felt confident in her academic choices, knowing they offered numerous opportunities, from working in multinational corporations to launching her own entrepreneurial ventures.
“The diverse opportunities that a business education provides were highly appealing to me, and I believed that INTI, with its excellent reputation and comprehensive curriculum, would be the perfect place to start my journey.”
Currently, Judith is an Assistant Marketing Manager.
From Diploma to Bachelor’s Degree at INTI University
INTI University is one of the top ten Malaysian universities according to the 2025 QS World University Rankings. In recognition of its academic excellence, the university was recently awarded the QS Rising Star Award 2025 at a ceremony in Washington DC.
Judith is a proud alumna of INTI University, where she began her academic journey with a stellar performance in her Diploma before diving deeper into her business ambitions with a Bachelor’s Degree. She chose to major in International Business and minor in Finance. “International Business provides a global perspective on business operations, which is essential in today’s interconnected world.”
This major helps her navigate the complexities of global markets with greater ease.
Conversely, finance is crucial for making informed business decisions and managing financial resources effectively. By combining these disciplines, Judith has developed a comprehensive skill set that aligns with her future goals, whether working in a multinational corporation or charting her entrepreneurial path.
INTI provided Judith with a supportive and dynamic environment that made her educational journey both enjoyable and successful.
Supportive Environments and Impactful Educators
The learning environment and campus facilities at INTI University significantly supported Judith’s quest for knowledge, enriching her campus experience. One feature she particularly appreciated was the library's extended hours which stayed open until midnight during the exam period, and provided a dedicated quiet space essential for her exam preparations.
The expansive INTI Nilai campus, with its wide range of facilities, provided Judith with options to unwind and relax from the rigours of her studies. She often spent her time after classes either engaging in sports like badminton and dodgeball or watching her friends play basketball. “Campus life was simple yet fulfilling, offering a perfect balance between academic pursuits and recreation.”
The best part? Judith had the privilege of learning from several outstanding educators who left a lasting impact on her academic journey. Among her favourites was Ms. Lisa Kwan, who taught Business Communications. Judith appreciated Ms. Kwan not only for her excellent teaching but also for her approachable and humorous nature.
One memorable piece of advice from Ms. Kwan was to apply what she learned in class to real-life situations. “I remember when I asked if I could list her as a reference on my resume for an internship, to which she agreed and asked me to send her an email to make the request formally,” she says.
Another notable educator was Judith's Principles of Corporate Finance lecturer. Despite being a part-time instructor, he showed remarkable dedication to his students. He shared his personal contact number with the class and was available to answer questions about assignments, illustrating his commitment to supporting his students even outside of regular class hours.
Judith was an excellent student at INTI until she received academic awards during her time there.
Life Beyond the Classroom: Gaining Practical Skills
Judith's time at INTI University was rich with opportunities to develop practical skills that would serve her well in her career. As the secretary for a camping event organised by the STACT club, she honed her interpersonal and writing skills by effectively communicating with various stakeholders and managing event documentation.
This hands-on approach continued as Judith progressed into her final degree semester, where she took her skills to the next level with a marketing internship at HSBC Bank, a key component of her programme at INTI University. “Working at HSBC provided me with invaluable hands-on experience and insight into the practical aspects of marketing within the financial sector.” The internship was a game-changer, offering a real-world experience that shaped her career path and confirmed her passion for marketing and finance.
Moreover, the frequent presentation assignments helped Judith become comfortable and proficient in delivering presentations. In her current role, she runs several town halls with over 200 internal staff, including local marketing teams and sales. The confidence and clarity in communication she developed at INTI have been crucial for effectively engaging with large audiences. Similarly, her leadership skills, refined through leading group assignments, have translated well into the workplace, where she manages projects and teams with ease.
Judith graduated with a Bachelor's degree majoring in International Business, Minor in Finance in 2020.
Judith's Tips for Aspiring Students
Judith’s journey underscores the importance of finding balance. She advises future students to manage coursework, extracurricular activities and personal time well, as this will help them excel academically, build valuable skills and maintain a healthy and enjoyable lifestyle.
For those embarking on this path, Judith’s advice is clear: “Embrace every opportunity, stay organised and make the most of the diverse experiences.”
Today, Judith continues to apply these principles in her role as Assistant Marketing Manager at Vantage, where she leverages her education and experiences to thrive in her career.
