Form 6 is a great option for those who are looking for a cheaper alternative to further their Bachelors degree program. Apart from being the cheapest pre-university program, you can choose to study locally or abroad as STPM is recognised both nationally and internationally. The best part of all, students are eligible to receive an allowance offered by the government, provided that they are qualified for it.
This government financial assistance was first introduced in the early 1970s to ease the burden of students from low income families. This is to ensure that they are given a fair chance at furthering their tertiary education. With less financial burden, students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds will be able to stay focused on their academics and co-curriculum activities.

Total Form 6 Allowance by Stream
Lower Form 6 (Science Stream): RM110.00 per month x 7 months.
Upper Form 6 (Science Stream): RM110.00 per month x 11 months.
Lower Form 6 (Art Stream): RM90.00 per month x 7 months.
Upper Form 6 (Art Stream): RM90.00 per month x 11 months.

Form 6 who attended SK & SBK
Income of parents/guardians RM1500 per month and below
Excellent in academics and co -curriculum according to merits specified
Does not receive any scholarships or allowances /other financial incentives from government and non-government agencies.
Distribution Method
Teachers will identify Form 6 students who are eligible to receive this allowance. The amount as described above will be channeled by the Ministry of Education (MOE) directly into the account of these students.
So, if you want to continue studying but at the same time you are having financial constraints, you can opt to continue your Form 6. No doubt, STPM might be more challenging than the other pre-university programmes available, however, it will prepare you better for your university studies.
