Organised by FOHAT (Diploma in Hotel Management) in conjunction with Event Management, as part of the final project, lucky students of SMK Maxwell and SMK Tinggi Setapak were invited to join for this very special event.

The event started early in the morning with an ‘ice breaking’ session, conducted by the Head of the Department of Hospitality. This was followed by a short welcoming speech by Dr. Mani, COO of Erican College. For the next hour, the school students learnt the process of ice carving, followed by a special hands-on training with fruit/vegetable carving.

Next was special treat as Erican Culinary Icon & Industry Advisor, Chef Jafri took to the stage. Chef Jafri is one of the top 5 ice carvers in Malaysia, who has many national and international competitions. As he stood in front of an amazed audience, Jafri proceeded to carve 3 blocks of ice into the shapes of a salmon, a swan and a butterfly. Each sculpture took Jafri about 10 minutes to finish. For everyone to watch the master at work and creating masterpieces in mere minutes, was simply magical.

The event ended at around noon, and was followed by presentation of goodie bags and souvenirs to the schools’ teachers and a group photo session.
