Celebrating young filmmakers of #MySekolah

Over 100 aspiring young filmmakers crowded IACT College campus together with their school teahcers for the Awards Day of "MySekolah" Short Film Competition.

Of over 170 entries, 22 short films were shortlisted for awards including Best Short Film, Best Script, Best Movement, Best Music Selection, Best Story Telling and Best Editing. The following are the winners for the six categories;

"MySekolah" is a national level short film competition endorsed by Ministry of Education Malaysia that showcase unique campus culture in each school. The competition is organized by IACT College, the Creative Communication specialist, in partnership with Study Hub Asia and sponsors Milo and Domino's Pizza. The competition reached, inspired and empowered about 2,200 students over 230 schools to participate.

The organizing chairman, Mr. Shyamachandran from IACT College says, "We've always believed that every school has their distinctive  culture, and students being so creative in many ways, combining the two together, we see the birth of interesting short films that document collective memory of their school. This is the first time we run such a big scale competition an we are glad that it is for such a meaningful cause!"

As part of the efforts in grooming young filmmakers, IACT College also held a Video Production Clinic on 16 and 23 July for over "MySekolah" 400 contestants from over 70 schools on and trained them on ideation, creative execution and basic film-making techniques. The clinic was run by industry expert lecturers from mass communication and broadcasting industry.

After the production clinic, contestants were given 1 month to put their ideas to work. The finished short films were then uploaded onto mysekolah.org  for voting. The website garnered around 580,000 page views and ranked one of the top viewed pages in Malaysia. Besides getting popularity votes from the netizens, all videos were also judged by industry experts from IACT College base on creativity, story and production value.
