Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh advices students of higher learning institutions (IPT) to take advantage of online learning to get more than one degree.

According to him, it will be for easier access to the job market due to a variety of stakeholders including the industry sector and employers who recognize that graduates with only one degree will find it more difficult to get a job.

"Our higher education system is changing in response to the process of building a strong brand for the Malaysian education which is why we have implemented a more flexible approach so that the people can own at least two degrees.

"After their graduation, graduates will have more opportunities to enter the job market with a range of qualifications and skills," he said.

He offered the example of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) being offered in 20 universities in the country. Idris said this will enable elevate the quality of our higher education system in the world in producing more graduates with multiple degrees.

The MOOC was launched by the Ministry of Higher Education in September 2014 which offers more than 60 courses online at 20 public universities in the country.

The programmes are offered for free through www.OpenLearning.com platform to all university students and the general public.
