It was the first time for KYUEM-Chemistry Department, to get an invitation to participate in “THE PROFESSOR GOH LAI YOONG Perak Inter-School Sixth Form Chemistry Quiz”. The main objective of this competition is to establish a close relationship among the schools, Perak State Education Department and Malaysian Institute of Chemistry and to give opportunity for the students to meet and to compete from all the schools over the Perak state under the harmony competition condition. This year, the competition was takes place at the Faculty of Engineering and Green Technology (FEGT), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Kampar, Perak on the 1st of October 2022. Nineteen participating schools and colleges around Perak were participating in the Chemistry Quiz. The Chemistry Quiz covers the STPM and Pre-U Chemistry syllabuses.
Four of our best Chemistry students were selected to represent KYUEM for the Chemistry Quiz, they are: Pua E Rick (ID: 9248/21), Jeffry Yap Kian Jun (ID: 9307/21), Mohd Danial Haziq bin Mod Nazari (ID: 9320/21) and Azri Bin Fadzil (ID: 9302/21). Our team became the Champion for the year 2022 by getting the highest cumulative marks for the quiz after defeating 18 other schools and colleges. KYUEM won and brought back one challenge round cup, a trophy for school, RM600 cash money prize and a trophy for each contestant. It was a very proud and unforgettable moment for KYUEM to win the competition. Chemistry Department are hoping to keep the round cup with KYUEM in the next PROFESSOR GOH LAI YOONG Perak Inter-School Sixth Form Chemistry Quiz.
