Overview
The Government of Japan offers this scholarship programme each year for Malaysian nationals to apply. Interested applicants are advised to read the guidelines carefully.
Criteria
- Applicants must be 18 to 30 years old.
- Applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate students in faculties or schools which major in Japanese language or Japanese culture in a university outside Japan at the time when they come to Japan
- Must have good health
- Must be able to adapt to living in Japan

Amount Info
- The amount of the scholarship disbursement per month has yet to be determined. Last year, scholarship benefits totaled 143,000 yen per month.
- Economy-class airplane ticket from international airport nearest to his/her home address to New Tokyo International Airport
- Fees for the entrance examination, matriculation and tuition at universities will be paid by the Japanese Government

How to apply for Scholarship for Japanese Studies (Monbukagakusho:MEXT)
- Scholarships must be made to the Embassy of Japan, Kuala Lumpur
- Completed application forms (Download Form Here)
- Photographs or digital images (size: 4.5x3.5cm, upper half of body, full-faced) taken within the past 6 months
- Certified grade transcript for each academic year and the diploma from the last university attended
- Medical certificate (prescribed form)
