Overview
The purpose of the Perdana Fellows Programme is to provide exceptionally talented young Malaysians first-hand experience in matters of national governance. Fellows will be working at the highest levels of the federal government, assisting Cabinet Ministers in substantiating the national agenda.
 
Perdana Fellows, as leaders of the future, must have a strong interest in public policy and current affairs. This is the time and opportunity for bright young Malaysians to step up and be personally involved in the leadership of the nation and contribute to nation-building.
Criteria

Applicant must meet all the below requirements

Perdana Fellows Undergraduate:
The Perdana Fellows Undergraduate programme is open to all students enrolled in higher institutes of learning, subject to the requirements outlined below:

  • Candidates must be prepared to commit a minimum of 6 weeks to the programme.

  • Candidates must be Malaysian citizens

  • Candidates must be currently studying in a higher institute of learning, whether local or overseas

  • Candidates must have a strong academic record

  • Candidates must possess effective communication skills

  • Candidates must be actively involved in extracurricular activities

  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate leadership abilities

  • Candidates should be of age 30 and below


 
Perdana Fellows Graduate:
Perdana Fellows Graduate is designed to benefit ambitious young men and women who wish to gain a deeper understanding of national governance and be part of the policy-making process within the highest levels of federal government.
The Perdana Fellows Graduate programme is open to all fresh graduates from universities subject to the requirements outlined below. Candidates must be prepared to commit a minimum of 3 months to the programme.
 

  • Candidates must be Malaysian citizens

  • Candidates must have graduated from a higher institute of learning, whether in Malaysia or overseas

  • Candidates must have graduated with a strong academic record

  • Candidates must possess effective communication skills

  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate leadership abilities

  • Candidates must be able to prove a high amount of involvement in extracurricular activities or community-building initiatives

  • Candidates should be of age 30 and below

Preferred Discipline
Public policy and current affairs which involves:

  • Project management

  • Research & analysis

  • Event management

  • Social media engagement

  • Strategic planning

Amount Info
  • Fellows under the Perdana Fellows Undergraduate programme will receive a monthly allowance of RM1500
  • Fellows under the Perdana Fellows Graduate programme will be given a monthly allowance of RM3000

Applicants are required to complete the online application about their personal information, academic background, extracurricular & volunteer activities and other supplementary information. Applicants will also be asked to submit:
  • Resume/CV
  • A passport-sized photo
  • An essay written by yourself. The essay should be no more than 500 words and should explain about which public policy issue you consider most pressing and suggestion on how it can be addressed better. Essays can be submitted in Bahasa Malaysia or English.
Optional:
  • A 30 seconds video of yourself that is uploaded through Wowintro, a platform which allows candidates to present themselves beyond their resume/CV.
