Malaysian Medical students share their experience

A total of 150 medical students studying locally in either public or private universities as well as internationally like Egypt, India, United Kingdom and Ireland were a part of the 2016 conference.

Carrying the theme "Health For the Nation", the first ever Malaysian Medical Students’ Conference (MMSC) 2016 took place in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) from 19 to 21 August 2016.

The opening ceremony of the conference was officiated by the Senior Deputy Director of Medical Professional Development Branch, Datuk Dr. Hj Rohaizat representing Director General of Health Malaysia (Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham).

Other honourable guests included the Director of Traditional and Complementary Medicine Division Dr. Goh Cheng Soon, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students’ and Alumni Affairs) Prof. Dato' Noor Aziah Mohd Awal and Dean of UKM Faculty of Medicine and Director of Chancellor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital Prof. Dr Zaleha Abdullah Mahdy.

Throughout the event, each delegate was dedicated to:

• Forums focusing on “Careers For Medical Graduates” and “Traditional and Complementary Medicine Development in Malaysia” delivered by the Senior Deputy Director of Medical Professional Development Branch, Datuk Dr. Hj Rohaizat and the Director of Traditional and Complementary Medicine Division Dr. Goh Cheng Soon, respectively.
• Workshop discussions and presentations
• Scientific Paper Presentation
• “Meet the Expert” sessions entitled “The Path We Choose” by Dr. Beni Isman bin Rusani from National Heart Institute and “ONG!” by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Zainul Rashid Mohamad Razi, the Deputy Dean of Graduate and International Relations as well as Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant of UKM Medical Centre.
